• The Sunday Scoop #4

    Hello fellow netizens!

I've been a bit sick this past week due to some unfortunate gluten exposure, but I've recovered well and have been doing a lot of stuff!

I streamed a bunch on Twitch, made a browser extension, made a video, and made a new song (that you have yet to see).

    Let's dive in:

    Weekly Recap

    MMMMMMMMMMMM

Last week's video! Go check it out →

I made the microwave on stream this past Wednesday, and finished the video just the other day.

I also made the music on stream and finished it this past Tuesday.

Making these videos on stream has been super enjoyable! I really love working on them and getting input from you guys, and also showing you guys the process or answering questions when asked.

This video was something I just wanted to be... hectic. Crazy. Unpredictable. I think I succeeded. Including the cameo of the dog was also a nice touch. Shrimp lore...

I've also been upgrading my thumbnails a little bit more recently, adding more effects and making them a bit more intriguing. Have you noticed the pattern shift?

    Twitch

I streamed 3 times this past week! Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

On Saturday, I played Voices of the Void. It's so far a very fun game, even though not much has happened yet. I'm excited to keep playing it and watch things unfold! (Please, no spoilers.)

I've made a new layout specifically for this game, check it out:

Compared to my normal overlay: pretty basic. But I wanted to prioritize being able to see the actual gameplay as opposed to all the cool effects. I noticed in my last couple vods, seeing the screen and what I was doing was actually quite hard!

Though, I like the idea of making themed layouts... Maybe different types of layouts for different scenarios, holidays, games, etc... I want it to be treated as different channels on a computer, or something of the sorts. So I did actually add a channel indicator for when I switch scenes:

I'll be experimenting a whole lot more with my Twitch, so I definitely recommending checking it out if you haven't already! Now that I'm about to become an affiliate, I am so excited to code minigames and such for chat engagement. And if you're a patron, I may be posting concepts or sneak peeks for the layouts and minigames I make.

Also, if you miss a stream of mine, you can check out my videos page on Twitch—I create highlights to focus on the main chunks of the stream. Though, if you'd rather watch the full VOD, you can watch it on my VOD channel: notan oval.

    YouTube Shorts

I've recently been experimenting with uploading Shorts to YouTube as well. Stream clips, mostly—but I'd like to start doing mini tutorials again.

I just recently uploaded one from my most recent stream, in which I disabled the option to notify subscribers. This was a tip from PirateSoftware that I'd like to try out, but I'm not sure it will work for my channel. But I am experimenting!

    Personalized Twitter, a Browser Extension

Do you use Twitter? Are you miserable while using Twitter? Well maybe I have the solution!

Introducing: Personalized Twitter, a browser extension that allows you to enable/disable certain features. All it does is let you decide what you can and cannot see. All options are enabled by default, just as normal.

At the moment, the extension is available only for Firefox. It is pending review for the Chrome store. This will hopefully be announced in next week's newsletter!

This extension allows you to enable/disable the following elements:

    • The right sidebar
    • The X Logo / header
    • The message drawer/dock
    • The Grok button
    • The Premium button
    • The "see hidden replies" button
    • Timeline & reply ads

I made this extension so that I can keep using Twitter without:

    • Falling for all the outrage bait I see in the trending tab—FOMO sure is something
    • Being at security risk from all the sketchy ads
    • Seeing very graphic images in my feed from all the vile ads
    • Being tempted to click the "hidden replies" button and then seeing the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life
    • Seeing unnecessary / inconvenient components

Note: It is likely this extension may not end up working in the future due to changes that make it harder to block ads and such. But at the moment, this is the only thing making me comfortable with using Twitter. If my extension ever gets removed for breaking a policy, I will simply stop using Twitter. I genuinely cannot use it without this.

What else am I up to?

Here's some other things I'm working on:

    • Recently I finished a song. It's different from most of my stuff, and very inspired by Ghost and Pals, Cyriak Harris, and Spellcasting. I'd like to continue with this, and make a few more songs of a similar style—then release an EP. They're all a part of a theme, so I think it'll be super cool.
    • I just outlined a short story, and would like to draft it soon. I think I'd enjoy writing short stories and putting them out onto my website and Patreon (free, of course). Maybe one day I'll sell a collection of short stories in a book for people that want a physical copy. We'll see where this goes; whether it will be a one-time thing or if I write a bunch.
    • I'm starting to write more poems. I have a bunch of ideas written down, and would like to try and write one a day, every morning, maybe. They'll be quite short, but very meaningful to me. I'm excited for you guys to see what's coming!
    • I'll be working on unique designs for wallpaper packs, both for the phone and desktop (various resolutions for different devices). I'd like these packs to be themed, and be ~10 designs each, then I'll probably price them between $1-2. For patrons, they'll be free to download.

I've figured out that I am doing a lot of things at once. So please don't have your hopes up too high. I just think it's nice to let people know what I'm up to.

There is potential for me to make one thing and then not continue pursuing it, due to my many other responsibilities, or simply disinterest. We'll see where things go. I'm always excited to experiment and learn.

    Something Inspiring

Oliver Buckland - anemoia. Check it out →

Such a fantastic song that I listen to frequently. I've definitely though about making something similar to this at some point. Honestly, anything Joel G related is incredible. But Oliver's music is so phenomenal, and has always been a massive inspiration of mine.
